ABOUT THE MASTER CLASS

Innovation is perhaps the most easily-recognized buzzword in our modern culture. In its corporate setting, we find chief innovation officers, innovation strategies, innovation design, as well as a myriad of innovation learning programs designed to teach companies how to harness innovation to remain competitive, drive growth and improve bottom line performance. Centuries ago, the word innovation carried with it a negative connotation. But today it has such powerfully positive cultural associations that there is practically no product or service, operation or procedure that has not been subject to the language of innovation.

But what does innovation mean? And is it helpful that we put such a focus on innovation as a mechanism for understanding and achieving success? This talk will invite us to reconsider innovation from a conceptual level and propose an answer to the question why innovation has become the cultural artifact that it has over the last century.
